You may be one of the many people who believe that what happened in the past is over and done with and that you don't have to be worried about it anymore. However, there are times when something that took place in the past can come back to haunt you. It could be something as simple as an unpaid bill that harms your credit rating, or it could be something much more serious, such as a sexual misconduct incident that occurred while you were in school. Allegations of wrongdoing at school can wreak havoc on your academic life and, if they resurface years later, derail your career. An Arizona state politician found this to be true when the public learned that he had been accused of sexual impropriety while in college. Jevin Hodge, who served in the Arizona House of Representatives, resigned from his position as a result, a news report said.

Hodge's College Suspension
According to a recent news report, while Jevin Hodge was attending George Washington University in 2015, a woman accused him of sexual misconduct. The victim alleged that a romantic encounter began as consensual but turned into nonconsensual physical contact. After the accuser reported the matter to the school, Hodge had to appear before the university's Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities. The authorities determined that he violated student conduct rules and suspended him from the university.
Hodge issued a statement through his Arizona government office after news of the accusations and suspension were published in a local newspaper. He denied the allegations and said that in 2016, the university denied his request to have the police investigate the matter, the news report said. A day after making the statement, Hodge resigned from his seat in the Arizona legislature.
