If you're a student at a college or university in Ohio and you find yourself the subject of a Title IX investigation, do not make the mistake of speaking with the school without taking the necessary precautions. Schools are often in a rush to judgement. Schools often do not provide the requisite notice to an accused party. They do not let an accused party know just what's at stake in a Title IX case. Title IX may be well intended, but due to an unfortunate dynamic behind Title IX, a complainant's interests will often align with the school's. A respondent's interests are considered last, if at all.
Do not speak with friends or others. Do not speak with the school. Let your parents know what's going on. Make sure that your rights and interests are protected by having an attorney adviser help you through the process.
