To best understand how to appeal a Title IX case in Virginia, it's good to have a brief understanding of what Title IX is. Title IX is a federal civil rights law, which is intended in part to prevent and address campus sexual misconduct. At colleges and universities in Virginia, if a party is found responsible and sanctioned, a party would often seek to appeal that outcome whether it is because of a disproportionate sanction or the availability of new evidence, or if there is a failing or failings on the school part that led to an unfavorable outcome, procedural defect, procedural error, that is, those are potential available grounds. That particular school's policies would have to be considered. Because of what's involved and because of what's at stake in the Title IX case, it's critical to have the help of an experienced attorney advisor when seeking to appeal a case.
