Under the Title IX Final Rule, a college or university may, at its discretion, allow a complainant to withdraw a formal complaint or the allegations they’re in if the complainant signed that they’re looking to withdraw the matter. That being said, a school can also continue to pursue the matter if circumstances would otherwise be appropriate. It is an involved consideration and obviously much is at stake in terms of whether such a case should go forward or not.

Having an experienced attorney-adviser can help you best understand and navigate the process and they should be involved from as early as possible in the case if you’re facing any kind of Title IX case or concern.
