Should I respectfully remain silent if I am accused of campus sexual assault under my college sexual misconduct policy?

Initially, yes, you should. If you're contacted by your school in any capacity, be it the conduct office, the campus police, local law enforcement, whatever the case may be, you need to respectfully be silent, not answer any questions, not give any kind of statement of any kind. The school's not looking out for you. The school is concerned about its interests, first and foremost, it's own liabilities.

You need to tell your parents what's going on. You need to have an experienced attorney advisor in your corner from the start of the process so that you can make the best-informed decisions moving forward. There would be a given time in almost all cases of sexual misconduct at college where you do need to engage with the school to defend oneself but only can do so or only should be done so after you take the necessary precautions.
