Famous People Get Expelled Too: Part 3

Posted by Joseph D. Lento | Dec 09, 2022 | 0 Comments

Getting into trouble in school can feel overwhelming, especially when you are notified of an impending investigation or hearing into the matter. Many students do not realize they have a right to help from an attorney-advisor. Because of this, they attempt to handle these proceedings on their own and end up suffering from serious punishments that could have been avoided with an attorney-advisors help. Maybe if the celebrities below had had access to an attorney-advisor, their education may not have been cut short.

Marlon Brando

Before Marlon Brando was the Godfather or graced the stage in A Streetcar Named Desire, he was a high school student in Libertyville, Illinois. While in high school, he apparently spent his time misbehaving – he rode a motorcycle through the hallways, threw firecrackers, and wrote an essay on a toilet paper roll – and skipped class often. As such, he was expelled in 1941 and sent to military school in Minnesota – which he was also kicked out of.

If Marlon Brando had worked with an attorney-advisor from the moment he was notified of the punishments he was facing, the attorney-advisor could have negotiated with the school administration on his behalf. Additionally, if a hearing was necessary, the attorney-advisor could have helped him gather evidence and witness testimony to best defend himself from such a harsh consequence as expulsion.

Charlie Sheen

Hollywood bad boy, Charlie Sheen was expelled from Santa Monica High School in 1983 for poor attendance, low test scores, and even poorer grades. Now, Santa Monica High School allows students to retake classes they did poorly in, giving them a chance to bring up their grades and test scores. But many parents believe that the way the school calculates GPAs is unfair to the students who choose to retake classes. If Charlie Sheen were a student at Santa Monica High School now, and had the counsel of an attorney-advisor, he would have been allowed to retake his classes.

How an Attorney-Advisor Can Help

It is not uncommon for students to find themselves in some trouble while in school at least once. But many students are punished before really having a chance to defend themselves. Unfortunately, most schools are interested in their well-being and reputation rather than the education of their students and end up choosing punishments that are more severe than necessary. The best way for a student to avoid such harsh penalties, and the long-lasting consequences they can incur, is to contact an experienced Education Lawyer for help.

Attorney Joseph D. Lento and the Lento Law Firm have worked with hundreds of students across the country who have found themselves in similar situations. They understand that conduct issues tend to have root causes that are not easily identified by school administration. Many disciplinary issues that lead to expulsion are actually undiagnosed dyslexia, anxiety, or ADHD. Students deserve the right to defend themselves against these allegations. Attorney Lento will help you identify evidence and witness testimony to create a strong defense that can help you avoid expulsion or other severe punishments.
