Top 50 Schools for Campus Alcohol and Drug Arrests & Top 10 Schools for Forcible Sex Offenses

Posted by Joseph D. Lento | Feb 10, 2016 | 0 Comments

Which college or university has the most campus alcohol arrests?   Which has the most campus drug arrests?  Schools are required to report campus crime to be eligible for federal funding under the Clery Act, and the most recent data available was analyzed to determine how schools nationwide rank by number of alcohol and drug arrests and other crimes including sex offenses.

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse ranks first for the most campus alcohol arrests per capita for schools with more than 5,000 students.  The State University of New York (SUNY) - Oneonta ranks first for the most campus drug arrests.  Ten Pennsylvania schools and one New Jersey school, however, rank in the top 50 for schools that have the most campus alcohol arrests, and four of these Pennsylvania schools rank in the top 10 with Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania ranking second nationwide.

# 2 - Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania; # 3 - East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania; # 5 - Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania; # 6 - Indiana University of Pennsylvania; # 12 - West Chester University of Pennsylvania; # 16 - Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania; # 19 - Lehigh University; # 21 - Penn State; # 25 - Pennsylvania College; # 32 - The College of New Jersey; # 43 - Edinboro University of Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania schools fare better regarding campus drug arrests - Only three Pennsylvania schools rank in the top 50.  No New Jersey schools make the list.

# 22 - Pennsylvania College; # 37 - Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania; # 38 - Indiana University of Pennsylvania; # 41 - Millersville University of Pennsylvania

Alcohol and drug arrests are overwhelming enough for college students, but it does not get much more serious than being accused of Title IX sexual misconduct or assault.  One New Jersey school and one Pennsylvania school have the unfortunate distinction to rank in the top ten nationwide by number of forcible sex offenses - Princeton University ranks # 1 and Penn State ranks # 10.
