Senior Pranks May Damage More Than Property
For high school seniors across the country, the end of the school year is a time for long-held traditions: Proms. Yearbooks. Graduations.
Senior Pranks.
Often, graduating students engage in carefree antics and practical jokes as they leave their high school days behind. Unfortunately, there are times when the harmless distraction of a senior prank leads to serious property damage and disruption in a school. Students implicated in the destruction may find themselves facing disciplinary investigations and sanctions.
At the LLF National Law Firm, we defend high school students facing disciplinary investigations and hearings after a senior prank goes wrong. If your child faces student discipline after a senior prank or for any type of misconduct violation, contact the LLF National Law Firm Student Defense Team at 888-535-3686 or online to discuss your case.
Graduating Seniors and Former Students Accused of Vandalizing Malibu High School
CBS News reports that a senior prank escalated to vandalism at Malibu High School when 40 or more current seniors and former students caused tens of thousands of dollars of damage to the school facilities. Malibu High School is part of the Santa Monica-Malibu United School District (the district), located in Southern California.
The district has explained that vandals super-glued locks to classroom doors, spray painted messages and inappropriate images on walls, pushed a golf cart down stairs, and destroyed tables and seating.
According to an administrator, the individuals responsible for the vandalism will be prosecuted, and current students could face punishments including restitution and the loss of senior privileges.
Any student accused of vandalizing their school must acknowledge that their future is at risk. Schools are likely to pursue investigations and hold hearings, even against graduating seniors. Any student found responsible should expect sanctions ranging from a revocation of privileges to a postponed graduation. In some cases, a school may prevent an implicated student from graduating.
Even those students who are allowed to graduate may learn that their misconduct has jeopardized their college admissions or scholarships.
The stakes are high when students are implicated in a destructive senior prank. Don’t let your student face the school disciplinary process alone. The LLF National Law Firm can help you and your child challenge a misconduct accusation arising from a senior prank or in any other circumstance.
